Dates: March 27th - April 19th, 2026 Time: 11:30am - 5:00pm every day Location: The Camp Store Parking: Cape Rey Hotel is our official parking partner. You can park there or on Avenida Encinas and walk into the campground from there.Do not park or drive into the campground, there is no on site parking and you will be turned away. Do not park in the neighborhoods.

Meet Our Dinosaurs
Take a trip back in time to meet some of the dinosaurs and marine reptiles that lived in Southern California and across the world.

How are the dinosaurs made?
There are six basic steps to creating a life-sized animatronic dinosaur.
Step 1: A detailed 3D design and blueprint is created for each dinosaur. This design includes the shape, size, movements, and color.
Step 2: The robotic framework and movements are built and tested. This T-Rex incorporates seven different movements!
Step 3: The framework is covered in a specialized foam using glue and a rough shape is carved into the distinctive shape for each dinosaur.
Step 4: Skilled artisans add intricate details that turn a foam block into a living creature. This process takes dozens of hours for each dinosaur.
Step 5: Once the design is complete 3 – 4 layers of professional scale silicone is applied over the entire dinosaur to help weatherproof it.
Step 6: Once the silicone is dried a team of skilled painters bring the dinosaur to life with vibrant colors. Final details like adding teeth are also completed at this stage.
